Welcome to the neurosurgeon Doctor med. Elias Salim!

Doctor med. Elias Salim, born on 16.10.1966 in Nazareth and grown up in Ibillin, started his medicine studies in Germany 1986. Following the state examination in 1993 and the licence registration in 1996 he began specialization in the field of Neurosurgery. He worked in Neubrandenburg, Berlin, Kassel and last in Hamburg, where he finished the specialization successfully with becoming a consultant neurosurgeon. Beside his the operative activities one of his priorities was always the area of the microinvasive therapy. In 2001 he developed the periduralkatheter- therapy according to Salim, a procedure for the microinvasive treatment of prolapsed intervertebral disc.

Since that time this method has been performed on a large scale (with about 8000 patients) and with a success rate of approx. 85 %. For the optimization of this method in cooperation with the company Vygon/Aachen a special peridural catheter was developed.

Publications on this topic as well as on other ranges of the spinal column diseases, e.g. to the facet syndrome and for the treatment of the sacrodynie are published in the Neuro-Psychiatische Nachrichten and the OrthoPress, in Privatärztliche Praxis, in Ambulante Chirurgie/Der niedergelassene Chirurg, in neuro-date and in the Ibnsinna Aerzteblatt. etc.

80% of the people suffer once in their life from back pain. Diseases of the spinal column and thereby the connected Back pain belongs thus to the most frequent illnesses in our civilization. The therapeutic procedure shows a clear trend to microinvasive methods of treatment.

Conventional and modern therapy procedures

1. Classical procedures
2. Modern procedures

Classical procedures

  conservative (drug application)
  physiotherapy, physical therapy
  neurostimulation (TENS)
  operation (percutane nucleotomie, microsurgical treatment)
implantation of neurostimulatores and morphine pumps

Modern procedures:
  CT controlled periradiculary-therapy (PRT)
  CT controlled facets-infiltration
CT controlled therapy of the iliosacral joints + S2 blockade
  CT controlled laser-therapy
CT controlled periduralkatheter-therapy according to Salim (PDK)

If all therapeutic methods do not achieved an improvement or if the neurological symptoms worsen acutely, then surgical operation stays the only possibility.
